Grant qualified as a solicitor back in September 1995 with a practice in Ipswich, before joining Maples in September 1996. He became a partner in the firm in January 1999.
During his career Grant has gained a considerable amount of experience in a number of areas of law. Grant is in fact the Head of the Dispute Resolution (Litigation) Department, as well as the leader for the Employment, Debt Recovery and Personal Injury Teams. Grant also provides assistance as part of the Company and Commercial Team.
Grant is a Member of the Employment Lawyer’s Association as well as the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.
Grant has also earned the firm a contract with Temple Legal Protection Limited so that the Firm can offer Employment Guard to clients – a scheme that insures businesses against Employment Tribunal claims and the cost thereof.
Grant can be a persistent and determined litigator when required, and has also excellent negotiating skills as often it is commercially advisable to settle matters rather than to litigate through to a fully contested Hearing or Trial.
In recent years Grant has been very active in the community, for example being heavily involved with the Spalding Sports Club Limited. Grant has also been actively involved in marketing the Firm, being a member of a number of local networking organisations and being responsible for this website.
Grant devotes much of his spare time to his young family, namely two young daughters and a teenage son. If Grant does have any time to himself, then he tries to keep fit by going to the gym and enjoys watching football, cricket and rugby.
“Treated with compassion to all situations”
“We were dealt within a friendly informative manner. Each step was discussed and the advice given was understandable. We have never had cause to complain in the many years we have dealt with Maples.”
“I contacted Maples for some employment advice and I was contacted by Mr Shackleston on the same day for an appointment and he was very approachable and gave very clear and concise advice which was easy to understand and put me at ease. The matter was resolved very quickly and I achieved more than expected. Very good service and I would use Maples again for other services.”
“Good friendly service with a realistic approach to problems. Much appreciated during a difficult period.”
“Was given straight advice on the matter at hand. Gave us the advice needed to go ahead with our case. Mr G Shackleston was a pleasure to deal with who explained things to us in a language we could understand. Our case was settled out of court in the end but believe Mr G Shackleston advice paid a big part. Many thanks to Mr G Shackleston for his help and advice.”
